vokse vs Bankin'

More than a view of your accounts.
A budget your household works.

Bankin' is a free window on your accounts, paid for by ads in the Android app, credit and cashback partners, and two Premium tiers. vokse is the budget behind the window: zero-based envelopes, an assistant that works them on the same audited tools as the app, a household with owner, editor and viewer roles, 41 currencies, and your data in and out as files on the one plan. Every Bankin' row below is dated and checkable on their own site.

Connect your bank or import your history. Every transaction categorised, every envelope up to date.

The short answer

Is vokse a good Bankin' alternative?

vokse is a Bankin' alternative for households that plan money rather than watch it. Where Bankin' caps categories from a three-month average, vokse runs zero-based envelopes; its assistant acts on audited tools and is included; owner, editor and viewer roles replace a single personal account; and your history comes in and out as files on the one plan.

Method
Zero-based envelopes in vokse, monthly caps in Bankin'
Household
A role per person in vokse, no shared space in Bankin'
Assistant
On the one plan in vokse, Premium only in Bankin'
Currencies
41 in vokse, one display currency in Bankin'
Export
One file, any time in vokse, Plus or Pro only in Bankin'

vokse and Bankin', row by row.

Thirteen rows, each Bankin' cell dated and checkable on their own site and help centre, so nothing here rests on opinion.

Why vokse is the Bankin' alternative worth switching to.

Six answers to the reasons people stay on Bankin', each settled by a vokse fact.

  • Envelopes, not caps from an average

Bankin' pre-fills each category's monthly cap from your last three months and turns a gauge red at 100 %. vokse is zero-based: you assign the money you actually have to envelopes, move it when plans change, and roll what is left into next month.

  • A household with roles

Bankin' states it offers no shared space and suggests adding your partner's bank logins to your own account. In vokse each person signs in as themselves with a role, owner, editor or viewer, and every change is recorded with who made it and can be undone.

  • An assistant that acts, included

IA Bankin' sits behind the Premium tiers, reads the two to three months your bank returned, and forgets which accounts you picked between sessions. The vokse assistant is on the one plan, works your budget on the same audited tools as the app, logs every step, and anything it cannot undo waits for your confirmation.

  • Your data in and out, on the one plan

Bankin' documents no file import and reserves transaction export for Plus and Pro. vokse imports CSV, OFX and JSON from any bank with columns mapped and duplicates flagged, captures receipts by camera, and exports everything as one file whenever you ask.

  • One plan, nothing sold inside

Bankin' funds its free tier with ads in the Android app, credit offers, cashback that sends transaction data to partners with your consent, and Premium tiers for custom categories and reconciliation. vokse has one plan with every feature, a free trial and no card to start.

  • Claude, ChatGPT and a public API

Bankin' mentions no Claude, ChatGPT or MCP integration and documents no customer API; its only data product is consumer insights sold to companies. vokse has a remote MCP server with OAuth for Claude and ChatGPT and a public REST API, both on the same audited tools as the app.

Switching from Bankin', in three steps.

Bankin' exports transactions only for paying members, so the first step depends on your plan; from there vokse reads the files the same way.

  1. Get your history out of Bankin'

On Bankin' Plus or Pro, open Profil, then Export de données, pick the date range, tick the accounts and confirm; the Excel and CSV files arrive by e-mail. On the free plan there is no in-app export, so download CSV or OFX from your bank's own site instead, or e-mail Bankin' support for the GDPR data CSV.

  2. Import the files into vokse

Drop the CSV, OFX or JSON files into vokse. Columns are mapped, duplicates flagged, and you review the prepared import before a single row lands; the assistant and rules take the categorising from there.

  3. Give this month a plan, then close the old account

Assign the money you have to envelopes, invite your household with a role each, and connect a US or Canadian bank or keep importing files. Deleting the Bankin' account erases everything there for good, so do it after the files are in.
