Delete your vokse account

4 min read

This page explains how to delete your vokse account, whether you use vokse on Android, on iPhone or on the web at www.vokse.ai. Deleting the account removes your profile and your financial data from vokse. Below are the exact steps, what is deleted, what we keep for a limited period, and how to make the request even without access to the app.

On this page
  1. Delete your account from the app or the web
  2. If you are the only owner of a shared household
  3. Delete your account without the app
  4. The 30-day grace period
  5. What is deleted
  6. What we keep, and for how long
  7. Delete part of your data, or take it with you

Delete your account from the app or the web

The same control exists in the vokse mobile app and in the web app, and it deletes the whole account, not just the app on your phone:

  • Sign in to vokse (the Android or iOS app, or www.vokse.ai in a browser).
  • Open Settings, then "Privacy & data". The same card also lives under Settings, "Danger zone".
  • On the card "Delete your vokse account", press "Delete account".
  • Type DELETE to confirm. Your account is scheduled for deletion, you are signed out of every device, and we email you a confirmation with the date your data will be permanently removed.

If you are the only owner of a shared household

A household must never lose its last owner while other people are still in it. If that applies to you, vokse asks you to first make another member an owner, or delete that household, and then delete your account.

Delete your account without the app

You can request deletion even if the app is no longer installed or you cannot sign in. Write to support@vokse.ai from the email address your vokse account is registered under and ask us to delete your account. We verify that the request comes from the account owner (we never ask for your password) and schedule exactly the same deletion, with the same confirmation email and the same 30-day window described below.

The 30-day grace period

Deletion is scheduled, not instant, so a stolen session or a rash decision cannot destroy years of financial history. As soon as you confirm, every session on every device is revoked, your bank connections stop syncing, your subscription stops renewing, and your account and the households only you belong to are scheduled for deletion. For 30 days the confirmation email holds a restore link: open it and confirm, and your account comes back exactly as it was. After 30 days the link stops working and the permanent purge below runs automatically.

What is deleted

When the grace period ends, we permanently delete all the data of your account, including:

  • Your profile and sign-in data: name, email, passkeys, two-factor settings, sessions and API keys.
  • Your households and every piece of financial data in them: bank accounts, transactions, budgets, categories, payees, rules, goals and recurring items.
  • Receipts, voice notes and generated export files stored for those households.
  • Bank connections. Provider-side access through Plaid is revoked immediately when you delete your account, without waiting for the grace period; stored connection credentials are erased, and consents given through Enable Banking are never used again and lapse at your bank.

What we keep, and for how long

A few things outlive the account, each under its own rule:

  • Audit log entries. Every change to financial data in vokse writes an audit entry (what changed, when and by whom) for security, fraud investigation and the integrity of shared households. Each entry is pruned automatically at most 2 years (730 days) after it was written, and is never used for any other purpose.
  • Data export archives. If you requested a copy of your data, that archive expires 30 days after it was prepared, and any archive still stored when your account is purged is erased together with it.
  • Data of shared households. A household that still has other members is not deleted with your account: its data belongs to the people who remain in it. Your membership ends and your user is unlinked when your account is purged.

Delete part of your data, or take it with you

You do not have to delete the whole account to remove specific data: inside vokse you can delete individual transactions, bank accounts and receipts, disconnect a bank, and delete or reset a single household under Settings, "Danger zone". Before deleting anything you can download a full machine-readable copy of your data under Settings, "Privacy & data", "Export my data". After the purge we can no longer recover the account or answer a data access request, so export first if you want to keep anything. How we process personal data is described at /privacy; for anything else, write to support@vokse.ai.
